Hi Jim, Just wanted to say that your site has been extremely useful for me in my quest to rejet my 02 VZ800. The listing of other owners and thier mods including the jet appatures has been great. If I were to add one item it would be the actual Mikuni jet series part number to look for in relation to the size needed. It has been my experience that many parts and service departments, even in Suzuki shops, don't have a clue as to that information and I have had several bad experiences where they have given me the wrong part. This has left me with float chamber exposed and a trip back to dealers on two occasions. Anyway, I thought that visitors to your site might like to know more specific details about the jets they need to accomplish any mods. Here goes: Mikuni Jet Series Number: Main Jets Front Carb - N100.604 - Called Large Round (8mm round head)-Sizes #50 - #205 available in increments of #2.5 - (The number indicates fuel flow not size of appature) Rear Carb - N100.604 - Called Large Round (8mm round head)-Sizes #50 - #205 available in increments of #2.5 - (The number indicates fuel flow not size of appature) Pilot Jet (idle jet) Front Carb - VM28/486 - Sizes #12.5 - #50 available in increments of #2.5 - (This jet is long - pictures at the sudco site below) Rear Carb - N151.067 (OEM) - Sizes #30 - #60 available in increments of #2.5 Note: I have also used a BS30/96 for the rear carb - the difference is that the section below the threads has small holes drilled perpendicular to the jet shaft (for emulsion) - these seem to work well too. All these parts should be available from the local Suzuki Dealer but here in Central FL I have had mixed results finding a good stock of any jets. In addition, the service department usualy tries to convince you that this type of work shouldn't be attempted at home which is annoying. When asked what the cost would be to have them do it it usually comes out to about $250 - $400. I have also found that some shops seem to have absolutely no idea how to troubleshoot fuel issues. Here is an example: I bought my bike from a Harley dealer before I actually knew how to ride. It had all sorts of issues that I fixed myself slowly over time. I finally got it to a point where I knew that rejetting was the last major issue to be resolved. I had Cobra Slash cuts, K&N's, Dynojet stage one and (based upon reccos from your fine website) Mikuni Mains at 127.5 - 137.5. The way it was running it seemed to be very lean at idle and up to .25 throttle. This indicated to me that idle (pilot) jets would be the answer. I was tired of takin the tank off and doing all the other stuff necessary to change out the jets. Besides I couldn't find the necessary jets around anywhere locally. I was referred by a neighbor to a bike shop in downtown Sanford. I brought it in and explained the issue. The mechanic, Scott, said he know exactly what the prob was and gave me an estimate of about $200 which included a Dyno run. Well, since I couldn't find the jets and I wanted my ride since it was early summer I went for it. Long story short, I picked it up and it ran exactly the same as it did when I brought it in. Turns out that Scott put the bike on a Dyno (which is only good for upper end rpm diag and an overall HP reading) and decided that he needed to drill out my newly installed mains. He never told me exactly why. He totally ignored my idle issue and in fact never even rode the bike after doing all this useless work. I took the rauder back there 2 more times to try and get the problem fixed for no additional cost. I finally decided that this was useless and to just take the loss and chalk it up to a bad experience. I was really convinced when Scott started arguing with me that the VZ800 stock pilots were 45/50 when I knew they were 40/45. I convinced him to re read the fiche. He did and admitted his mistake. Even so I knew that this place or at least this mechanic wasn't going to help me at all. So I began to scour the internet for good sources for the jets. I found one that seems reliable and that doesn't take forever. Check out: http://www.sudco.com/ Under products on the home page there is a link for Mikuni Jets and you should find all you need there. They are in CA but they ship everwhere in the US. The jets we use are $3.00 each and they use UPS Ground although you can pay more if that is too slow (5-7 business days). Only drawback is that they don't do on-line ordering. I called on the phone and all went smoothly. They take Visa, M/C and AMEX. Anyway, feel free to post any of this information if you think it is of any use. I just wanted to help if I could and to thank you for a great website devoted to the Marauder. BTW your bike looks great! I am waiting until I can find a good deal on a seat like that . Cheers, Gary Palmer
